Lipstick 101 sounds like a lot more fun than some heavy-going accounting paper. Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics makeup academy is opening in Vulcan Lane on Saturday.
The eight-week course in fashion glamour and bridal makeup artistry covers photography, catwalk, bridal and special occasions.
Classes are held in the weekends - so you don't have to chuck the day job - and on Monday and Wednesday evenings for $1280.
There's also a one-day workshop on Sundays for every personal use for $215. Phone 0800 408 108.
Touch of the gaucho
Mundo, Spanish for world, has opened at 170 Ponsonby Rd, stocking Latin-inspired fashion by designer Tania Donnianni.
The range's theme is Argentina, the traditional hand-woven textiles and motifs from the South American gaucho's poncho.
Donnianni - whose husband Pablo is an Argentine - has been in the fashion business for 14 years as a pattern-maker, merchandiser and buyer for Line 7 and Ezibuy.
The shop also stocks Argentine leather accessories and jewellery as well as the odd bit of art.
