An array of kooky, colourful outfits graced today's Emmy red carpet. It seems no shade was left off the spectrum as burgundy, teal green and even Big Bird yellow was donned for the event. From bold accessories to heavy detailing including chains, sequins, and a pair of "fluffy slippers", there was plenty of fodder for our experts to weigh in on.
Modern Family's Sarah Hyland killed it for me. Her sleek gown fit her perfectly. It was elegant, yet understated. The off-the-shoulder look gave it a sexy feel, but remained chic. It also helps that it's my favourite colour. But I loved everything about it. It didn't scream look at me, it wasn't kooky, she didn't look like a mirror ball or a Christmas cracker. She wore the dress, it didn't wear her.
Worst: Heidi Klum in Versace
What was going on here? Too much, is the answer. It looks like she ran over Big Bird with her car on the way to the Awards. I think the colour was beautiful, and not everyone can pull off yellow. But the ruffled sleeve on one side? Rip that off and maybe...

Best: Claire Danes in Prada
On paper, chunky chain detailing, purple sparkles and a low cut front and back doesn't read well. But Claire's Prada choice was a winner. It was Jem and the Holograms meets old world glamour and it was perfect.
Worst: Amy Poehler in Michael Kors
It pains me to pick Amy for worst dressed but this outfit is a sad reminder that 'relaxed' and 'red carpet' must remain mutually exclusive. Maybe a slick up 'do and diamonds instead of beach waves and jingle-jangle bangles could have rescued this one?

Best: Kiernan Shipka in Dior Haute Couture
Mad Men might be over but little Sally Draper, played by 15-year-old Kiernan Shipka, has well and truly secured her spot as one of the most stylish stars in the making. Fresh from the front row at New York Fashion Week, here she is wearing a dress-over-pants Dior Haute Couture ensemble and Christian Louboutin shoes. While a relative newbie compared to her on-screen mum, January Jones, Kiernan has definitely upstaged her on this red carpet.
I wanted everything January Jones wore when she played Betty Draper on Mad Men. But it's a shame her style in real life falls flat. This emerald green Ulyana Sergeenko onesie is not my cup of tea at all. And what's with that starfish pin? It might be time to call in Kiernan for some styling advice.

Best: Jon Hamm
It was a classic tux for the star of Mad Men. He was Don Draper all the way as he collected his Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series.
Worst: Christina Hendricks in Maxior
Hamm's co-star Christina Hendricks was my pick for the worst dressed. She looked like she'd been shot by a stud gun. For a woman known for accentuating her ample 50s curves, this dress made her look like a bad optical illusion.
