Emma Watson famously cut off her hair after wrapping the final Harry Potter film instalment, symbolising the departure from portraying studious character Hermione.
The 23-year-old likes to express her personality through sartorial choices and loves trying out new things - even if she gets slated in the press.
"[When I starred in designer campaigns] I was fully game for 'Throw me in this, throw me in that' but I'd like to develop my own sense of style, and dress for myself. The press destroyed me over this Rodarte dress I once wore - it was bright blue with chains on it. I loved it. And I wore a leather Christopher Kane dress with embroidered flowers all over it. It wasn't that crazy, but at the time ..." she told UK newspaper The Independent.
"Fashion gave me a chance to feel like I was something outside of Potter. I'm a multi-dimensional person and that's the freedom of fashion: that you're able to reinvent yourself through how you dress and how you cut your hair or whatever."
Watson is currently promoting Lancome's new lipstick range and said she has always been into make-up because it reminds her of growing up on the set of Harry Potter.
