Life of Brian still favourite

Monty Python's Life Of Brian has been named the greatest comedy film of all time in a recent British poll by Channel 4.

The British satire beat the 1980 American film Airplane! into second place and the more recent British "rom-zom-com" Shaun Of The Dead into third.

Spy caper Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery, took fourth place, followed by the animated comedy film of South Park.

The Monty Python team also claimed the sixth spot with the much-loved Monty Python And The Holy Grail. Seventh was American Pie, followed by Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles and There's Something About Mary. Rock spoof This Is Spinal Tap came 10th.
