In the women's mags: Camilla gets chic, Angelina's on the prowl for babies

You know it's a slow week in celebrity land when tearing the special plastic-wrap off a woman's magazine is the most exciting thing about the whole edition.

But that was New Idea this week - the plastic wrapping was to hold in a nice Fashion Week supplement. Nice, but we're soooo over Fashion Week, thanks.

The Idea's cover story - Beach body secrets - will tell you how various stars prepare their bods for summer, but exercising and eating properly is hardly news.

The mag does carry a warning, however - Angelina Jolie is on the lookout for another baby to adopt. She wants a "rainbow family" and plans to collect a set of 18 children from 18 countries. She's already knocked Cambodia and Ethiopia off the list and surely it's only a matter of time before she casts her eye over the Pacific. Lock up your babies, especially if they are cute and have strange names.

Woman's Day and Woman's Weekly both carry blondes on their covers.

The Weekly goes with Camilla's million-dollar makeover secrets, and tells inside "How Camilla got chic". You be the judge on that one, but Camilla looks pretty much the same despite her fancy manicure (she paints her nails in her favourite shade of beige called Sugar Daddy) and new shoes.

The mag also talks about Britney and Kevin's marriage breakup. The pop princess knew it was the final straw when she and eight-week old Sean Preston returned from a holiday at mum's house to find Kevin was just too busy to pick them up from the airport.

"I'm too busy with my music career - I'll send a limo collect you," he said. At least it was a limo, not just a taxi.

Poor old Britney's marriage hell is the Day's cover story.

"Get out" she has apparently told the Kevin, who is an insensitive Bad Dad.

While Britney's been battling post-natal depression, he's been shopping, drinking vodka and smoking cannabis as well as dancing too closely to another pop princess, Ashlee Simpson.

"Brit's had all she can stand of the problems with Kevin," says a very, very close friend. "She needs a rest from the war."

The Day carries some disturbing pictures of Janet Jackson, no longer the trim dance diva she once was. In fact she's now "more beach ball than beach babe". Harsh, but fair.

Reese Witherspoon has no such worries, though. She's lost 7kg and is looking rather gorgeous.

It would appear actor hubby Ryan Phillippe agrees and the couple's marriage - long rumoured to be shaky - looks set to be back on track. Thank goodness.

The fat-actress-of-the-moment isn't left out of the scandal section. Kirstie Alley has been mag fodder for weeks over her whopping 55kg weight loss which she attributes to Jenny Craig. But it now appears she may be a big fat liar. The goss is she simply "did a Donna" and got her gut stapled.
