As The Return of the King premiere edges closer, Wellington's refurbished Embassy Theatre was unveiled tonight.
The 'home' of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy has been closed for four months, with more than $4 million being spent on its refurbishment.
The work has included luxurious new seating and carpets in the auditorium, a lift allowing disabled access to the theatre and upgraded toilets and ventilation.
Theatre Trust spokesman, Bill Sheat says it is exciting to see the 79-year-old theatre restored to its former glory.
On Sunday a giant three-and-a-half-tonne Fell Beast was hoisted on top of the theatre.
It will be a dominant feature of Courtenay Place for the premiere on December 1.
