Jimmy thought he was off to a new home when he was adopted out on January 2. But two days later he was back at the Mangere animal village after the new owner changed his mind.
Animal attendant Emma Ginsberg said the six-month-old labrador and terrier-cross was a lovely pup who just needed a boost of confidence and exposure to new surroundings.
"He knows all the basic commands and will sit for his meal but he does get a bit excited." Ms Ginsberg said he would be fine around children. His village number is 89537.
The cat featured in yesterday's Herald now has a home in Mt Eden.
* Every day over the holidays the Herald is featuring a pet that needs an owner. To help, call the SPCA on (09) 256-7300 and quote its village number.
