This one-year-old black and white terrier-cross was picked up as a stray in Onehunga last month by the Manukau Council.
She was brought into the SPCA by council staff who felt she might be a good candidate for re-homing. SPCA general manager Jane Thompson says this happens quite often.
"If the council have a particular animal they like, they'll make an effort to get it re-homed." Customs and MAF officers also regularly come through the animal village looking for potential working dogs. Animal attendant Rhonda Shirley says the terrier-cross is a well mannered dog.
"She's a classic terrier, with her nose to the ground all the time." Her village number is 88430.
