Cats generally do not like the boats, but sometimes as strays they have no choice.
This tabby-tortoiseshell female was discovered in a boat trailer in the backyard of a property at Kumeu.
Whether the cat is sea-faring or not, it was probably the only sheltered place she could find to raise her three kittens.
The two-year-old was brought in to the SPCA on October 31.
That is a long time for a cat to be at the animal village in Mangere, says feline attendant Liza Arnold.
She describes the cat as quite bossy, so she would not be good with other cats.
However, she is very friendly towards humans.
The playful cat has now been spayed and is ready for adoption.
Her village number is 67358.
