When you arrive at the dog area at the SPCA's Animal Village in Mangere, in one of the first cages a little four-month-old Heeler-cross will rush to the edge of her cage to meet you.
When the tan and white puppy was brought in by her owner on November 6 she was six weeks old.
Animal attendant Rhonda Shirley says the pup needs an active lifestyle with some mental stimulation and obedience training.
She says she will make a nice pet as long as she's given those key things.
This puppy is one of three that was brought in. She has been desexed and is ready for adoption.
After Sammy, the Burmese-cross cat featured yesterday, the SPCA had 30 calls, and the cat was adopted by a Mt Eden family.Lucy Arthur
