Elrond (Hugo Weaving): The most important and influential elf of his time. He hosts the Council of Elrond at which the fate of the One Ring is decided.
But his connection to the ring goes back hundreds of years to the Second Age when he took part in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men as Gil-galad's herald.
Elrond is the father of Arwen, and founder and master of the elf-haven Rivendell. He rallies the diverse peoples to fight the threat of Sauron. When his daughter Arwen contemplates forsaking her immortality to bind herself instead to Aragorn, Elrond's heart is torn. He orders the shards of Narsil to be reforged so that the rightful King of Gondor can reclaim his sword.
Known as Elrond Half-elven, he traces his ancestry back to Luthien, an elven princess who gave up her immortality to live with a mortal man, Beren, in Middle-earth rather than seek the Undying Lands to the west over the sea.
