A cloud hangs over ID Dunedin Fashion Week 2008 after title sponsor Vodafone yesterday confirmed it had withdrawn from the popular event.
The lack of sponsorship at this late stage was a concern to the committee organising the March event, the Otago Daily Times reported.
Organising committee chairwoman Susie Staley said new sponsors were being sought and at least $500,000 was needed to stage the event.
"We have not secured sufficient sponsorship to confirm there will be an event in 2008," Ms Staley said.
Vodafone NZ sponsorship manager Richard Howarth said the company's sponsorship strategy focused on sport and music.
"We were happy with the value we gained from the Vodafone ID Dunedin Fashion Week over the four years we were a key partner, but as the event does not fit in with our current strategy we made the decision not to extend the relationship," he said.
