London is basking in the success of the dress. It's already been a strong look on the New York Fashion Week runway and it has emerged again as the key piece.
A-line shapes and minimal luxe fabrics with strapless tops and other sexy accents are favourites. But fashion lovers will have their pick of dress silhouettes, since so many versions have been offered, including shifts, sacks, wraps, sundresses and halters. Empire lines and high-waisted looks were popular.
Julien Macdonald brought a splash of colour to the runway otherwise dominated by black and white.
Macdonald delivered his usual display of high-octane glamour with a multi-coloured collection which featured full-length dresses in brilliant purples and blues and yellows.
Designers Jonathon Saunders, Amanda Wakely and Jasper Conran lightened the mood with white or black and white dresses, some with high-waist belts.
Whichever silhouette you choose, any dress will impress.
