Popular Australian burger joint Grill'd denied a woman a free burger as part of a Movember Foundation campaign because she was female.
Grill'd held its MAYEIGHT!! (pronounced Maaate) awareness campaign on Sunday, which aimed to inspire men to reach out to their friends for a catch up.
The two-for-one burger offer was available for anyone who brought along a mate with them and said the words "May Eight" when ordering.
"We know from research that men aren't great at making or keeping friends and that connections tend to drop off once men hit their 30s," Movember Foundation executive director Paul Villanti told Mumbrella last month.
Adam Ferrier, chief strategy officer and consumer psychologist at Cummins & Partners added: "We want to make it as easy as possible for men to catch up with a mate by suggesting a day to do it, giving them a burger, and having a bit of fun with MAYEIGHT!!"
