Round off your meal with something sweet - and simple.
Over the past few years since I traded a legal career for a food one, I've thrown a lot of dinner parties. Some were big, raucous affairs with friends of friends of friends, and some involved taking over an interesting space like a photographic studio and having a dinner there. Many were private, in-house dinner parties but, more often than not, it would be having friends for dinner.
Dessert can sometimes be a bit of an afterthought. The number of times I've heard people say, "I prefer savoury" or, "I don't have a sweet tooth" is too many to count, but I don't think that means you should exclude dessert from your life.
It's so nice to finish a meal with something sweet, even if it's of the alcoholic variety. A dessert cocktail is a fun way to finish a dinner, especially if it's the kind where people might end up dancing on the tables at 2am.
Preparing dessert ahead of time, with little or no added admin to serve, alleviates the stress of entertaining and roasted fruit makes things super simple, too.
