Degree for Humperdinck

Singer Engelbert Humperdinck says he's thrilled to have been awarded an honorary degree from the University of Leicester for his charity work.

Fans of the veteran crooner were outraged when his former chart rival, Tom Jones, received a knighthood.

Humperdinck, 69, said he was not bitter that he was overlooked in the New Year Honours but hoped that one day he would be recognised alongside Sir Tom.
