New Zealand-born pop star Daniel Bedingfield's recovery from his Northland car crash has been made easier with award nominations in Britain.
Bedingfield earned three nominations for Britain's premier pop music accolades, the Brit Awards. He was nominated for best album, best British male artist, and best pop act, and faces tough competition in all three award categories.
In the pop act category he is up against Black Eyed Peas, Busted, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.
Other nominees in the British male artist category are David Bowie, Badly Drawn Boy, Dizzee Rascal and Will Young, and the other album nominees are Blur, Dido, Darkness (who perform at the Big Day Out in Auckland on Friday) and Coral.
Bedingfield had also been nominated in 2002 for best single and 2003 for best urban act.
Bedingfield's debut album Gotta Get Thru This has sold almost three million copies worldwide.
His hit single of the same name was a British number one and reached number 12 on the New Zealand charts in 2002. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award.
Bedingfield suffered neck injuries in a car crash north of Whangarei on January 2. One News reported today he was out of Whangarei Hospital and was recuperating with his parents.
