Diwali celebrations - the Festival of Light - attracted thousands of people to downtown Auckland over the weekend.
Music, puppet and theatre performances and amusement rides had people - young and old and from all backgrounds - up and dancing from midday and into the night over the past two days.
The event, held at Aotea Square, also had stalls selling unique handicrafts and clothing as well as one of the festival's biggest drawcards - food stalls selling traditional treats.
Among the performers were dancers from the Hit Pe Hit group as well as the Mudra Dance Company, regarded as the premier Indian classical dance company of New Zealand.
