The flashing dancefloor on which John Travolta strutted his way to stardom in Saturday Night Fever is up for auction.
The multicoloured floor has been a fixture at the 2001 Odyssey nightclub in Brooklyn - later renamed Spectrum - since the 1977 movie with Travolta in his tight, white suit turned disco into a global phenomenon. The club closed last week, but owner Jay Rizzo felt compelled to save the famous floor.
"I had to," Rizzo said. "Over the years, we've had thousands of people who come here just to see it. "It's literally been the heartbeat of this club."
The dance floor covers 36 square metres and uses 300 coloured flashing bulbs.
