A Northland builder's letterbox has been crowned most unusual letterbox in New Zealand.
Iain Cathcart's crown shaped letterbox won the top prize ahead of 30 other entrants in the competition organised by the Kaipara Coast Plant Centre & Sculpture Gardens at Kaukapakapa, northwest of Auckland.
Mr Cathcart said his design was meant to be a tulip flower, but he could not work out the shape perfectly so it turned into a crown.
He won a three day walking holiday in north Auckland.
