Emma Holland had a close encounter of the furred kind at the Auckland Animal and Pet Expo.
The 6-year-old was among hundreds at ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane to meet cats, rabbits, chinchillas and many more furry creatures.
But it was a puppy looking for adoption from Hope Rescue that won her heart.
The annual expo, a celebration of pets and animals and the positive role they play in society, is on again today from 10am-5pm.
Adults $16 and kids $7.
