Nobody expected Gabi Grecko to wear a traditional wedding dress when she got hitched to Geoffrey Edelsten.
In fact, before the ceremony in Melbourne this week the flamboyant model told several news outlets she wanted the wedding to be a tacky, Las Vegas-style affair.
True to her word, the 26-year-old wore a low-cut sparkly, ivory dress with a thigh-high split to marry her groom.
Grecko and Edelsten, 72, had a surprisingly low-key ceremony with just a celebrant and two witnesses in attendance, although Grecko has said they plan to have a larger celebration in a few months.
The 1970s disco-styled wedding dress, reportedly designed by Diane von Furstenberg, was covered in white sequins and topped off with a fur bolero.
The red-haired Grecko had sky-high, nude Christian Louboutin platform shoes and a tacky wedding headdress, that she told the Daily Mail she had picked up at a costume shop.
Her new husband wore a white suit with rhinestones on the lapel and a sparkly, white tie.
Grecko's dress was in keeping with her flamboyant style and she isn't the first celebrity bride to be a bit "out there" with her style.
However, Grecko could still trump them all when the pair get around to their second, more lavish ceremony.
Here are ten other celebrity brides who opted for nontraditional dresses on their wedding day:
Gwen Stefani, 2002
The No Doubt singer appeared to be going down the traditional route for her wedding to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. From the top, Stefani's ivory, princess-styled John Galliano dress seemed pretty plain, aside from the one-shoulder design. However, things got a little more rock-star lower down with a dip-dyed, or ombre-style, pink hue on the skirt.
Yoko Ono, 1969
The conceptual artist was marrying the world's most famous musician, John Lennon. There was no way Ono could wear a traditional dress because these two were anything but traditional. Ono opted for a fashionable white mini-dress, knee-high socks and a wide-brimmed hat meaning her look was as unique as the couple themselves.
Sarah Jessica Parker, 1997
Some would argue that Parker always breaks the rules when it comes to fashion but somehow makes it work, especially playing her Sex And The City character Carrie Bradshaw. But for her own real-life wedding to Matthew Broderick, before the hit TV show was aired, Parker opted for a dress designed by Morgane Le Fay in a not-so-traditional colour, black. Other than the hue the spaghetti-strapped, full-skirted gown was really quite demure.
Jessica Biel, 2012
It was strapless, full-skirted and there was a veil but that's where the traditional look stopped for Jessica Biel. The actress chose to wear a pink dress, designed by Giambattista Valli, to wed her pop star husband Justin Timberlake. She later told Elle magazine that she had never been crazy about all-white wedding dresses.
While Versace designed Jolie's ivory, satin gown her children made it unique. The actress' six children with husband Brad Pitt customised her veil with drawings that were sewn on. She said at the time she had great fun putting it together with Atelier Versace tailor, Luigi Massi.
Celine Dion, 1994
Dion's ostentatious Egyptian princess look when she wed Rene Angelil took 1000 hours to complete. The dress, designed by Mirella and Steve Gentile, was a silk creation, complete with a 20-foot train. The singer also wore a Swarovski crystal tiara that had to be sewn to her head and weighed an estimated three kilograms.
Keira Knightley, 2013
The actress went against the usual celebrity flamboyance and opted to recycle her favourite Chanel dress for her wedding to musician James Righton. The blush pink dress with a tulle skirt has been worn by Knightley on the red carpet both before and after her wedding.
It's very hard to forgive Thompson for this massive fashion fail except to say it was the 80s, often considered the decade that fashion forgot. The actress married actor/director Kenneth Branagh in what can only be described as a Little Bo-Peep design, with a skirt to the knee and a mismatched colourful corset.
Pamela Anderson, 2006
Anderson made sure her wedding outfit showed off her assets to full effect. The actress married Kid Rock wearing only a white string bikini and a sailor's cap. In her defence, it was a beach ceremony.
Paula Yates, 1986
In her wedding to Bob Geldof, the late TV presenter wore a traditional wedding dress with a long princess skirt, a train and a veil - the only difference was, it was red. The vibrant dress was topped off with a crown of roses because nobody could describe Yates as a shrinking violet.
