A Sydney eastern suburbs mum is shocked by the symptoms of the coronavirus Delta strain, after she and her daughter caught the disease.
Bondi resident Jose Bryce Smith took to social media this week to share her experience.
In a twist of bad luck, Bryce Smith's 14-year-old daughter caught the virus off a cousin an hour before lockdown was announced.
"It's actually unbelievable how quickly it [the virus] spread within the family," she said in a video shared to social media.
The symptoms were "definitely not pleasant" and she "felt dreadful" during the ordeal, Bryce Smith added.

"She went round to their house about an hour before the lockdown was announced and he [the cousin] passed it on.
"He got it himself after attending a funeral. It then quickly spread between the family … once it gets into a household, pretty much everyone gets it."
Her teenage daughter was soon diagnosed with Covid-19.

She "started feeling very lethargic … she couldn't taste any food and spent four days in bed with a fever," Bryce Smith said.
"She was very cold and sweating … as well as having a sore throat and a very bad cough.
"She also thought she was freezing, but she was absolutely boiling."

The Delta variant has been known to hit young people just as hard, if not harder, unlike other strains of Covid.
Out of Sydney's nearly 400 Covid cases, 47 are in hospital and 16 are in the intensive care unit. One of those in the ICU is a teenager.
"I was also blocked up in my nose and had bad body aches.
"I am a very fit person, but when deciding to go upstairs or come downstairs, I needed to think about it because you are exhausted when you get to the other end."
