Today bring you a cocktail that was born out of a 1920s-themed Prohibition Party at boutique Auckland cocktail bar Red Bar.
Owner and bartender Alex Patterson said he had been working on a daiquiri recipe for party-goers and had the idea to add pomegranate seeds because "it's the flavour of the month". Picture fishnets, feathers and sequins, and the sassy pink Burlesque Daiquiri is right at home.
What you'll need:
40ml Bacardi white rum
25ml fresh lime juice (about one large lime)
15ml Grenadine syrup (or to taste)
1 heaped tsp of sugar
2 tbsp pomegranate seeds
How to mix this cocktail:
Add Bacardi, sugar and lime juice into a shaker. Stir with a spoon until the sugar has completely incorporated. Add the Grenadine and then top with ice. Secure shaker lid and shake for 30sec.
Strain into a martini or cocktail glass.
Add the pomegranate seeds and serve.
