Mike Chunn is to host a series of "Happy Hour" concerts with the Auckland Philharmonia, starting tonight.
Chunn has a long history of working in music as bass player with Split Enz and Citizen Band, general manager of Mushroom Records NZ and Sony Music Publishing NZ, and director of the New Zealand branch of Apra. Lately, he has set up the Play It Strange Charitable Trust which works with young musicians to develop their songwriting and performance abilities.
In tonight's show at the Auckland Town Hall at 6pm he will work with conductor Christian Knapp, violinist Natalia Lomeiko, and the AP performing excerpts from Sibelius' En Saga; Christopher Blake's Aoraki Concerto (see feature next page) and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 5. The complete versions are performed tomorrow night.
