Chains break Bardot's heart

French actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot says the children's Christmas show President Jacques Chirac gave at his official Paris residence - in which animals appeared - filled her with horror and disappointment.

"My trust in you is broken and I am plunged into despair for the animals," Bardot, 71, said.

The show included chained bears and wolves.
