The menu is fairly extensive and broken into brunch and lunch, although some of the dishes cover any time of day. There is eggs benedict four-ways, brioche french toast and a big breakfast, which comes with potato croquette - a house specialty - and venison sausage. We saw it delivered to our neighbouring table and had immediate food-envy. There is also a bagel section ($7.50-$15.90) with various toppings.
We ordered the bagel with cured salmon, red onion, capers and cream cheese ($15), and the eggs benedict with free range bacon, which came with lime hollandaise and potato croquettes ($18.50). The bagel was nice and the ingredients lovely and fresh, but the eggs benedict was the hands-down winner - generous serving and zingy flavours.
The look is quite different to the pasta restaurant that inhabited this spot for several years. The new owners have done a complete refit, taking one wall back to bare bricks, and mounting multicoloured polythene piping on the front of the counter, giving the place a casual feel.
The coffee was great. We also sampled the teas, which were excellent. But we should really have gone for one of the house smoothies which sound delicious.
