The look of this cafe, housed in a wood furniture shop, is busy, busy busy. There are signs, blackboards, and bric and brac everywhere. But somehow it works, giving it a homely, welcoming feel. There is plenty of seating inside, as well as a few pavement tables.
The menu is fairly standard. Eggs benedict, pancakes, big breakfast, mince on toast, muesli and so on. But we love the addition of enormous glass cereal cannisters hanging on one wall, with old favourites for young and old including cornflakes and Coco Pops. The food is good. There's no wow factor but it's good, honest fare and you're unlikely to walk away hungry - the portions are pretty generous. We ordered the pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup ($15 or $6 for a kid's portion) and the eggs benedict with bacon ($16.50). The pancakes were great, light and fluffy, while the eggs benedict was good, but pretty standard. The kids enjoyed Molly Woppy gingerbread men after being unable to decide on the many inviting goodies in the cabinet.
The coffee was good. The latte was hot and creamy and the long black packed the perfect punch on a Saturday afternoon.
The service is extremely friendly and very patient, especially when our overtired kids couldn't decide on what they wanted.
