We came here because we got cheap flights to Wellington and found some equally cheap accommodation just down the road.
Parking was not a problem for us as we didn't take the car.
We walked in and immediately thought it is the kind of quirky, slightly scruffy cafe the capital is so good at: formica tables, retro wall hangings and cute teaspoons with pictures on the handles.
The most unusual thing on the menu was organic gingerbread pancakes with maple, blueberry and ricotta ($14).
We ordered the gingerbread pancakes and a vege stack with eggs, pesto and mushrooms on toast ($14). Delicious. We've since tried to replicate the pancakes at home, but can never get them quite as gingery.
The service was informal and pleasant, in keeping with the relaxed decor.
The coffee was good and quite strong.
We recommend if you come here you try the pancakes. Then email us the recipe.
Overall we thought it had good coffee, nice service and was less pricey than many of its Auckland counterparts.
