The menu is comprehensive, with breakfast available from 8am-3pm from the self-pronounced "purveyors of all things yummy".
The look is modern and relaxed, with a great selection of soul music playing (though a tad too loudly for ease of conversation) during our visit. A bar by night, there is a mix of tables with chairs and comfy-looking bench seating festooned with cushions or tables with high stools - our location this visit.
Lining the wall were metal beer kegs cleverly recycled with cushioned tops - presumably to use as seats later in the day. Even more of an attraction is the view - while the Strand and trees partially block the scene, the beach outlook is definitely a drawcard.
The food was excellent. We ordered buttermilk waffles with lemon curd, fruit and mixed berry coulis and free range bacon ($25.40); pork and fennel sausages with black pudding, apple, fennel, potato, buckwheat and spinach ($18.50) with a side of poached eggs ($4.50); a crab omelette with chilli, lemon, fennel, gremolata and a deep-fried soft-shell crab atop it ($20.50); and the "Zany Zeus" halloumi with broad bean crush, mint, spinach, poached egg and nut dukkah ($19.50). The halloumi was divine - as befits its name - and the other dishes were well-received.
