On offer is a small selection of about half a dozen different, delectable sandwiches. There's also a selection of sweets from Meola Kitchen - we licked our lips looking at the lemon curd brioche, caramel slice and feijoa cake. The crew at Crumb mix up the house-made sambo range every day and add a peanut butter and jam toastie for weekends.
The look is cool, clean and relaxed at this small corner cafe. It's mainly takeaway, but the cute stools and beanbags sitting out in the sun offer the option to stay for a chat.
The food is simple, tasty cafe fare. And we wouldn't expect anything less - at the helm of this new spot is Hugo Baird who worked under the wing of Al Brown for two years. Local bakery, il Forno bakes the bread, the ham is sliced from the bone, while swiss cheese, pickles and relish make for a killer ham and cheese baguette ($7.50). The classic BLT bap (also $7.50) was awesome, with a smear of sweet, barbecue-y Rocket Fuel sauce.
The drinks are listed on a blackboard behind the counter and it's hard to choose. We went with a dark chocolate shake ($6.50) - so creamy and smooth, flavoured with (our favourite) Whittaker's chocolate. The coffee is Supreme and our $4.50 cup was just right.
