Needing to check in with this neighbourhood cafe that we'd not been to for far too long, we found the menu little changed - why fix what's not broken, after all?

The blackboard menu (also on cards for table perusal) had all the usual options, the most unusual being the Coco Pops breakfast option for kids ($5), giving it a real "home away from home" feel.

We ordered the fritz, a vege fritter topped with spinach, two poached eggs, crispy bacon and garlic aioli ($19.50) and the feel good breakfast of five-grain toast, poached eggs, basil leaves, tomatoes, and brie ($15.50). Both were tasty and of satisfying size.

The coffee was an Atomic blend and hit the spot.

The service was friendly at the counter, but the serving staff weren't particularly enthusiastic.

Seating options at Bungalo are varied, from the outdoor front deck area covered by an awning to the main dining area with its raw weatherboard wall and views of the harbour from the window table, to the side room with its large table.

Overall, Bungalo makes for a relaxing brunch venue. It's great for families, though lacks that something extra to make it shine.
