KEY POINTS:
Her marriage may have just ended, but Britney Spears looked a picture of happiness as she sauntered around New York last night, smiling for paparazzi everywhere.
As news of the pop star's divorce from her husband Kevin Federline filtered through media wires, the starlet was soon spotted out shopping in the Big Apple, where she picked up some warmer winter attire at Gap, before heading to the iconic Rockefeller Centre.
There, the 24-year-old mother-of-two donned a pair of skates and was seen spinning around the ice with her former manager manager Larry Rudolph.
The singer fired Rudolph - who masterminded her pop career since Spears was 13 - in October 2004 following her marriage to Federline.
The newly blonde Britney then slipped into a skimpy blue dress and fishnets before heading out to dinner with friends at Baldoria restaurant in New York City.
Kevin Federline, however, is looking decidedly glum since Spears dropped her divorce bombshell - via text message.
Reports say the wannabe rapper was notified his marriage had ended by an SMS message on his Sidekick.
The former back-up dancer was filming an episode of a reality series for Canadian music channel Much Music at the time.
Video posted on YouTube shows Federline reading a text message, before removing his microphone and stalking off for half an hour. He later returned to filming, looking visibly upset.
Despite his divorce set back, Federline is continuing to flog his new album Playing with Fire, to a less-than-interested public.
After a dismal turnout at his New York concert in the weekend, Ticketmaster started giving away tickets to Federline's Chicago show last night.
Federline better hope his record sales pick up, as details of the couple's pre-nuptial agreement have revealed the fledgling rapper is set to get but a fraction on Spears' vast fortune.
Us Magazine published details of the couple's pre-nup in December 2005, which states Federline is not entitled to any of Spears' money.
While their home will be divided equally between the pair, any gifts over the value of US$10,000 must be returned to the original purchaser.
Spears will pay Federline an allowance of US$30,000 per month for half the duration of their marriage [one year].
Renowned Hollywood divorce attorney Laura Wasser drew up the pre-nuptial agreement, and will represent Spears throughout her divorce.
Spears is seeking legal and physical custody of both her sons, Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James, 2 months.
