Smash Hits, the magazine whose mix of pop star posters and song lyrics earned it a place in the hearts of 1980s teenagers, is to close because fans have taken to getting their fix of music news from the internet.
The British magazine, whose writers sometimes went on to become stars in their own right, has seen its fortnightly sales fall from an average of 500,000 to just 120,000.The last edition will be on February 13
