KEY POINTS:
Long-time red lipstick-wearer Denise L'Estrange Corbet, of fashion house WORLD, isn't worried about becoming "Ms Lead Lips". The designer said there was no way she would swap to clear gloss, just because of a little lead in her lippy.
"I'm probably a walking lead machine, considering all the dyes, paints and fabrics I have been exposed to. I've been wearing red since I was a teenager." She applies her Chanel or Dior lippy - the latter brand was highlighted as containing higher levels of lead than most - up to four times a day.
She doubts lead content will affect her health. "Anything can kill you. I've been wearing it for 30 years. If it was going to poison me it would have done so by now. If the lead makes it adhere better to my lips, then bring it on."
