Bride and groom slammed as guest takes aim at 'pathetic' wedding catering

A husband and wife have been mocked on social media after a guest posted photos of the couple's "pathetic" wedding spread.

Taking to Facebook, the guest posted the photo in a wedding shaming group with the caption "A wedding feast for your eyes".

According to the guest, believed to be from the US, the wedding spread featured hundreds of "plastic cheese", trays of celery and carrot sticks, diced up melon, sliced oranges and a row of brownies.

Viewers couldn't help but take a swipe at the couple, with some comparing it to a spread you would see at a child's birthday party.

"This is basically what we served at my 3-year-old's birthday party. Except we had quiche and strawberries," one critic wrote.

Another said: "This makes more sense for toddlers than a wedding, in my humble opinion," another added.

Others mocked the low-cost spread, with some pointing out the lack of professionalism in the presentation.

"This is what happens when you ask your family to cook for your wedding."

Someone else said: "I don't even know how they cut an orange that way. It must have made it harder as usually, you cut in half then into quarters. That looks like a third."

Others were left baffled that the decision-making that went into the spread, with one asking why they took the time to unwrap hundreds of plastic wrappers from the cheese but would leave the stickers on the oranges.

More photos showed the napkins were unfolded and left piled on the tables.

The outrage comes just days after a Kiwi family received mixed views over their catering for a 7-year-old child's birthday party which saw McDonald's KFC, and pizzas served.

Overall, the mammoth meal included 20 cheeseburgers from McDonald's, 20 cans of fizzy drinks, 10 pizzas, six buckets of KFC and coleslaw, as well as five tubs of potato and gravy.

While most kids would love this for a birthday party, many parents from New Zealand and around the world slammed the mother for her "diabetes birthday" meal.

"Happy birthday, we got you a heart attack," one person said.

"New Zealand has a massive obesity problem and this is not helping. No 7-year-old needs food like this," another suggested.

However, a number of Kiwis jumped to the defence of the parent, with many saying its a one-off birthday and the mum should be proud she can provide for her daughter.

"These people from overseas slamming us have no clue about the Kiwi culture. That feed is not just for a bloody 7-year-old. That's for uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and the list goes on," one said.

Another explained: "At least this mama paid for the kai unlike those bloody unruly tourists from the UK who did nothing but cause New Zealand a headache."
