Australian writer Paul Jennings' books have long been enjoyed by boys who are not particularly keen readers. Very few of these readers would be aware that he is deliberately pitching his stories to catch the attention of the non-reader.
Jennings is in New Zealand, partly supported by Storylines: Childrens' Literature Foundation of New Zealand, which, with Jabberwocky Bookshop, has organised two public meetings in Auckland: Sunday, 6.30pm at Kings School, Remuera, and Monday, 6.30pm, at Liston College, Henderson.
Tickets: Adults $5, children $2, family $12 available from Jabberwocky Bookshop, 202 Dominion Rd, Mt Eden. Ph (09) 630 6827. Email
