Christchurch will host one of the Heritage Fantasy: The Crossover Genre seminars, with Australian guest Garth Nix also meeting groups of students.
In New Plymouth, Puke Ariki has a weekend programme including writers Margaret Beames, Dawn McMillan and NZ Post winner Janet Hunt.
Wellington's Westpac St James Theatre has a free family day with 13 writers (including Joy Cowley and Lynley Dodd), illustrators and storytellers participating.
In Auckland, events include a Scary Spider Day at the Auckland Museum on Sunday, and the much-anticipated free family day at The Edge.
