Actor Simon London is performing in Silo's The Pride at Auckland's The Herald Theatre until September 1.
The book I love most is ... John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men.
The book I'm reading right now is ... Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses. I've been meaning to read this for a while, having loved Grimus. Rushdie's blending of the real and the magical is what gets me. The controversy surrounding it also attracted me.
The book I'd like to read next is ... Cloud Atlas, by David Mitchell. A friend recommended it when I told him about how time jumps around in The Pride, which I'm performing with Silo at the moment. Cloud Atlas spans time from the 1850s all the way into the distant future and is described as "a meditation on humanity's dangerous will to power, and where it may lead us". Sounds awesome.
The book that changed me is ... The Intent to Live, by Larry Moss. And no, it's not a self-help book. Moss is one of the top acting coaches in the world and his process of script analysis and approach to working is a total inspiration. He's an encyclopaedia of knowledge on classic American and British theatre. Already a fan of his book, I got to attend a workshop with him in Sydney, which blew my mind. He's a master.
