U2 won a court case today to recover singer Bono's Stetson hat and a pair of trousers taken by their former stylist in 1987. The band took Lola Cashman to court on a point of principle rather than for the estimated 5000 ($8950) value of the goods.
"This case was brought very reluctantly, in the context of a larger dispute which we never invited," the band said in a statement.
"The point of principle involved was of much greater significance to us than any item of memorabilia."
