Psychologist Nigel Latta wants to be done with the term "broken homes" - it's a loaded phrase that's making families feel bad.
"We've raised children in blended families throughout the entire human history, they're very normal families," says Latta, a Kiwi family expert, familiar from his work on television.
"It used to be back in the day your dad would get sat on by a mammoth so you would move in to the cave next door... it's a very normal way of raising children."
On the back of the release of his new book, The Modern Family Survival Guide, Latta sits down with Life & Style Editor Nicky Park to talk about understanding blended families and doing your best to raise a happy family.
