It was a joy to have Laurie Black in the Bite kitchen recently. She was over from Sydney to guest edit today's Scandinavian issue and we reaped the rewards.
Swedish cinnamon rolls warm from the oven, not one but two, mornings with our coffee. Gravadlax in the fridge for Danish open sandwiches that we affectionately call scandos and bowls of the best meatballs the team has ever (seriously!) had for Monday night dinner.
These three things will make regular appearances in my home now that I know how easy they are to recreate and what an impact they can have.
As Laurie says, "if you care one whit about the World of Foodie, you'll know that Scandinavian cuisine is where it's at and you can read more here.
The Danish have a word - hygge - that kinda means creating a nice, warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people around you.
Thank you, Laurie,. This week we have achieved hygge.
