The star is busy promoting her memoir Not That Kind Of Girl and signed copies of the tome at The Grove Shopping Centre in Los Angeles last Tuesday.
During an appearance on Good Morning America, Lena confessed the most difficult chapter to write may be surprising to some of her fans.
She said: "You'd think it was the sexual humiliations, but for me it was being clear that I've spent a lot of time thinking about food.
"I spend a lot of my career trying to break down the negative forces that the media exerts on women in trying to control their body image, so for me it's all very sort of anathema to who I am to admit that I too have struggled with the concept of perfection."
And Lena is unrepentant about the fashion naysayers, saying in a recent interview that she would rather be known for having great style than taste, describing her personal style as: "A feeling that no one else could have put on what you're wearing that day because it sprang forth from your unique neon mind."
She also added to The Telegraph that she prefers casual day dressing than glamming up for evening events.
"At night it's like, 'Duh, you look great because you worked on it for hours and are probably wearing an under-dress constructed of Spanx and duct tape.'"
