Auckland City Council parking officers had a big day out too, pounding the streets around the stadium.
A dozen vehicles were ordered towed away from Station Rd, Penrose, to cries of foul from watching workers at Rilee Signs.
Production manager Ben Hunter said officers put up a no-parking sign 40 minutes after people had parked and issued tickets to cars up to 80m from the sign. Tickets for 50 cars plus the 18 towed away could have been avoided, said Mr Hunter.
"Why didn't the officers arrive earlier than 9.45am to enforce this one-day no-parking law?
"This parking area is public parking for the rest of the year so I don't see why one concert should be any different."
City parking operations manager Bob Stanton said the signs were to protect a taxi stand.
"We are confident signs were up before anyone parked there.
"They were checked last night and also this morning."
