Best Kiwi ballet
The Wedding is a homegrown ballet set, as the title would suggest, at a Kiwi wedding. The Royal New Zealand Ballet has pulled together an excellent team to create this original work, including Witi Ihimaera, who came up with the original concept and narrative. The Wedding follows the story from rugby club, to nightclub, to hotel, to church, falling into the category of contemporary ballet. The talents of theatre guru Raymond Hawthorne have been incorporated into this production, alongside music from Gareth Farr, and much more. Last chance for Aucklanders to see it this weekend before it heads to Wellington.
Royal New Zealand Ballet presents The Wedding - Aotea Centre, Auckland, tonight and tomorrow, tickets from Ticketek.
Best fest
Potters Park comes alive tomorrow with the annual Auckland International Cultural Festival. It's a day that celebrates Auckland's diversity with ethnic food, arts and crafts and musical performances. More than 30 different nationalities are represented, and the festival usually attracts a 20,000-strong crowd. Meet someone new, eat something completely different, find out about some of Auckland's less obvious cultures, and - with two large stages brimming with music - perhaps even dance in ways you never have before.
The Auckland International Cultural Festival - tomorrow, Sunday, Potter's Park, cnr Dominion and Balmoral Rds, Mt Eden, 10am-5pm. Free.
Best moonlit film
All summer, around the country, film-makers have been busy writing, directing and acting in their own short films. The results can be seen tonight at Coyle Park, Pt Chevalier, where short films will be screened as part of the inaugural Moonlight Shorts competition. More than 100 teams entered and 10 of those will be shown tonight. One winning film will be screened on music channel C4. The judging panel included Lee Tamahori, Russell Brown and Oliver Driver. As well as entertainment from DJ Camilla Martin, this is the perfect evening for a lazy picnic in the park.
Moonlight Shorts - today Coyle Park, Pt Chevalier. Music from 5pm, films start 8pm.
Best out west
March is the big month for the Waitakere Sounds programme, which brings music to the parks and beaches of West Auckland. This weekend Shadbolt Park in New Lynn becomes the venue for an afternoon of rock, pop and hip-hop. Underground hip-hop comes in the form of 4th Element, followed by the self-described ear candy of DRS, and then why not a bit of punk rock from Stylus and chart toppers Goodnight Nurse. Courtesy of the Waitakere City Council. Three more free events in the coming weeks.
Waitakere Sounds - 4th Element, DRS, Stylus and Goodnight Nurse, today, Shadbolt Park, 128 Portage Rd, New Lynn, 1-5pm. Free.

Fresh from a performance with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Stevie Nicks plays North Harbour Stadium tonight. Known to many of us as the singer from Fleetwood Mac, she performs here without the band, but still fills about half her set with Mac tunes. Nicks is supported by big Aussie star John Farnham - you know, the guy who belted out You're The Voice and the rest (remember Sadie, the Cleaning Lady?). Don't miss this pairing of classic performers, especially considering Nicks is visiting for the first time in 26 years.
Stevie Nicks and John Farnham - tonight, Saturday, North Harbour Stadium. Tickets from Ticketmaster.
