The skin around your eyes is the most delicate anywhere on your body, so it's first to show signs of ageing and fatigue. We asked Hayley Gardiner, Estee Lauder's National Training Manager, to explain why it needs special care. "Skin is 4 per cent thinner around eyes, compared to the denser skin on our face. Blood vessels are closer to the surface of the skin, there are very few oil glands, and there is less collagen and elastin to support the skin structure," she says.
This, coupled with pollution, lack of sleep, dehydration and even using face creams that are too heavy will contribute to bags, fine lines and dark circles. Using an eye mask once a week is a smart anti-ageing tool. They're packed with vitamins, botanicals and antioxidants to help protect from environmental damage, lighten under-eye circles, reduces puffiness and plump fine lines, which all improve the overall eye contour.
