Viva's beauty editor tries a treatment with benefits.
Leaving a salon with well blow-dried hair is always a good feeling, but if that feeling extends for days and leaves your hair noticeably softer than usual, then it's a real boon.
That's one of the benefits of having a good hair treatment, or what the Kerastase hair company calls a ritual. You'll find these treatments, from a number of different hair companies, in many better salons these days, but Kerastase has a particularly extensive range of options for different hair types, the usual curly, colour and volumising lines, but also products for troubled scalps, brittle hair, hair lacking vitality or needing environmental protection. There is also an Age Premium line, especially for naturally white hair.
I had my ritual at Oblique Hair Spa, starting with my choice of refreshment in the well-appointed Birkenhead salon. A brief questionnaire about my hair's condition is followed by Kirsty using a magnifier to check out its condition up-close, while asking about any specific concerns I have. This process allows the consultant to prescribe the best ritual for my hair and scalp needs and, should I want, advise on the right take-home care and styling products.
My hair is pretty healthy, but with natural curl it tends to dryness and flyaways, so it's off to the basin for a nourishing shampoo and relaxing head massage with my prescribed Oleo Relax ritual. This includes the application of the salon-only Oleo Fusion spray-on, a hydrating product which is worked throughout my hair.
