Paul McCartney will make his debut at the Academy Awards, singing Vanilla Sky, the title track for the film of the same name, which has been nominated for best original song.
McCartney will be competing against Sting, nominated for Until from the romantic comedy, Kate & Leopold; Randy Newman, nominated for If I Didn't Have You from Monsters, Inc; Enya, nominated for May It Be from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and Diane Warren, whose song There You'll Be from Pearl Harbor will be performed by country singer Faith Hill.
McCartney has a previous Oscar nomination for the title track to the 1973 James Bond thriller Live and Let Die and won an original song score Oscar in 1970 with The Beatles for Let it Be.
