Promoters of the Big Day Out have confirmed more international acts - including Jane's Addiction and Underworld.
They have also announced the two New Zealand rock groups with the highest international profile and a new raft of foreign and local performers will play at the January festival in Auckland.
A reunited Jane's Addiction - the Californian art-metal band led by cult figure Perry Farrell who disbanded in the early 90s - will play with three-quarters of their original lineup. British dance music veterans Underworld are confirmed to headline the Boiler Room dance tent.
New Zealand bands Pacifier and the Datsuns have also signed up. Other local confirmations include rapper King Kapisi, Tadpole, Pan Am, 8-Foot Sativa and Eight.
Also coming are two American bands of interesting pedigree. Ghoul-metallers the Murder Dolls may look like Marilyn Manson acolytes but are best known as the other band for Joey Jordison of the infamous Slipknot. Sparta are three former members of At The Drive In, a Texas punk metal band who split last year just as they seemed headed for an international breakthrough.
Acts previously confirmed to play at Ericsson Stadium on Friday, January 17, include Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Xibit, Wilco, Kraftwerk, PJ Harvey, and the Deftones.
