A new trend has taken off in the ladies' loos at a popular Auckland nightspot, attracting hordes of women in need of a little "touch up" after work.
Brew on Quay has bathroom queues up to an hour long since it started offering complimentary cosmetics on Friday nights.
Make-up artist Kayla Fountain, 19, is in charge of the free flicks of mascara and swipes of lippy and doesn't mind being in the bathroom all night.
"I get to help people look good after work on a Friday, because you don't want to go to a bar looking trashy," she said. "I love it.
"It's a great way to meet people and it helped heaps with my confidence straight out of school.
Bar owner Simon Wynyard and his business partner hired Fountain as a graduate from a make-up academy to kick-start their innovative idea.
"It's been brilliant - some nights there have been queues up to an hour long for women going to have their make-up done," said Wynyard.
While free touch-ups have become popular in British pubs, this is thought to be among the first in New Zealand to offer the service.
Other bars have also jumped on the bathroom beauty bandwagon, with up to 20 bars across the country offering hair straighteners in the women's toilets at a charge of $2 for two minutes.
